Biography
Daniel Pemberton is the BAFTA nominated composer behind many of the themes and
sounds you hear everyday, from TV to film, adverts to videogames, installations to
fashion shows.
His credits include everything from cult comedy series (Peep Show, Suburban Shootout) to mainstream reality shows (Hells Kitchen, Love Island, Bad Lads Army); acclaimed dramas such as Born With Two Mothers (starring Sophie Okonedo and Lesley Sharp) and Vincent Van Gogh biopic The Yellow House (starring John Simm) to BAFTA and Emmy award winning documentaries (Hiroshima , George Orwell - A Life In Pictures); top rated lifestyle programmes (Great British Menu) to big budget family adventures (Prehistoric Park); videogames, catwalk shows and art installations.
His ability to jump genres effortlessly yet still bring a unique and recognizable sound to
every project saw him named as 'one of the hottest people working in television today' by
Broadcast magazine, who praised him as 'a composer prepared to take risks'.
TVPOPMUZIK, a compilation album of his TV work released in 2007, was acclaimed not
only by the press (with quotes from papers such as The Guardian proclaiming ʻA British
Danny Elfmanʼ and ʻThe composing cross breed of John Barry and DJ Shadowʼ) but also
by artists as diverse as David Arnold and the lead singer of The Guillemots.
He recently completed work on his first feature film score ʻBig Kissʼ, a diamond heist
caper starring Billy Zane (Titanic, Dead Calm) as well as writing additional music for Nick
Broomfieldʼs award winning feature Battle For Haditha. At this yearʼs Grierson awards
Daniel had scored music for three of the four films in the Best Drama category.
He has just completed the soundtrack to ʻCloneʼ, a new comedy series starring Jonathon Pryce from the producers of Friends and The Office and is currently working on
ʻOccupationʼ a three hour drama about the Iraq war for the BBC, ʻRunawayʼ a childrenʼs
film from Emmy winning director Paul Wilmshurst and a as yet-untitled feature debut
from acclaimed upcoming director and BAFTA winner Gareth Edwards for Vertigo Films.
