BIG BIG BIG WEDNESDAY!!!
by
Godwin Borg (September 6, 2006)
Some years ago two guys called Basil Poledouris and John Milius met at USC and became friends. Poledouris scored Milius' student films and that was also the beginning of a fruitful professional co-operation between the two. A few years later Milius asked Poledouris to compose what would have been the first of so far five films major done together: namely The Big Wednesday (the most famous one together being Conan the Barbarian). The film is legend with the lovers of the sport and narrates the story of three young men very different from one another but all three with a cpassion in common, all in a decade's frame. Poledouris is well known with his fans and appreciators for his beautiful vein of melody and musical grandeur and this film was a very good occasion to put his talent at work 'cause the music on this disc will make u want to get a windsurf and plane across the seas, rarely I have heard music that comes so much to life as I have with this musical journey of a CD. Just close your eyes and let this wonderful score transport you where your imagination takes you. There are sweet, almost lighthearted acoustic guitar themes, big gorgoeus fanfare themes and also lots of drama and an absolutely magnificent main theme that is one of the most memorable I have ever heard! This record is absolutely perfect in form, balance and cohesion and also presentationwise it's absolutely worth buying. in addition for the complete scorre buffs out there in addition to the main score FSM also included as bonus material basically all the source music as well. Thanks Lukas ;) A soundtrack to listen and treasure. Bravo Maestro Poledouris.
