Great '80s pop soundtrack

While Rick Derringer may be the only artist you've heard of on this album, it remains one of the greatest little pop soundtracks for an '80s film -- the goofy little "Carrie"-spoof, a pre-"Charles in Charge" Scott Baio/Willie Aames comedy entitled "Zapped!." Although it bombed theatrically, the film quickly found a cult audience on cable pay-channels in the '80s (where I discovered it). If you watched TV in the '80s, chances are you've heard David Pomeranz (he wrote/performed the theme to "Perfect Strangers," among other TV hits), and two of his greatest songs appear on this album. From the opening riff of "Got to Believe in Magic" to the fade out of "This Power of Ours," every song is pure 80s magic... Unfortunately, the soundtrack tanked even worse than the film, making it extremely hard to find. I spent nearly 20 years trying to get the album -- then discovered it on CD a year later. With David Pomeranz's unusual success in the Phillippines, the album was released on CD there in '96 (and both of his tracks appear on his "Best of" CD there). If you're a fan of the film and are lucky enough to snag a copy of the disc, you're in for a treat. However, the Charles Fox score (and the ongoing "Just for Fun" score) is absent from the album, and versions of the songs in the film are slightly different, particuarly "Got to Believe in Magic" and "Just for Fun." Still a nice little treasure for the film's fans!
