Evocative and Lilting
by a soundtrack collector (March 18, 2002)
Portman combines chinese melodic lines with the throbing string sections of european orchestra to create a moving soundtrack indeed.

It may be that I am biased as this is one of my all time favourite films but I think the soundtrack is a large part of why this is so.

We are acquainted with the main theme right at the start of the film as it is played by a chinese violin which in the film is behind a voice over which only gains poignancy as it's meaning is revealed in the film.

I love soaring violins and crashing string crescendos. This soundtrack brings tears to my eyes
