Wonderful score, complete and faultless music that fits perfectly the story, landscapes, characters and traditions shown in the movie. Victor Young created this delightful work combining Irish popular melodies with the original pieces, to fit the John Ford essence : the nostagic dreams of traditional Ireland by a tough American man who returns to his homeland after years of absence. All that you can find in this music. The Scannan recording is specially efficient in the task of reviving the old and lost sounds in the movie, as the original track is not available. This version is really true to the original spirit, and even recreates the songs, lyrics included. Don't miss the "The Isle of Innisfree" song, wonderful indeed.
You can listen to it from the beginning to the end with no stopping your sighing. Highly recommended for melancholic and nostalgic souls.
