TWIN PEAKS Two - Mystery Track

Hello...

...to all of you who already have the new TWIN PEAKS Season TWO soundtrack CD (Absurda/David Lynch DLMC003). This CD includes a technically mysteriously hidden track.

Please try this:

• Play track 1 and press PAUSE immediately.
• Hold the REVERSE button on your CD player (not the SKIP BACK button, but the gradual BACK button). You should be able to go back some 4:20 minutes. The timing shown on the display will actually be "-4:22" (minus 4:22).
• You can now press PLAY and will hear the "mystery track" including some words spoken by a male voice (after the -2:38 mark): "Hello Booth 34 X5149". After some silence (starting at -1:40), this mystery track picks up again at -1:15 with some slow piano tune for the rest of the track.
• After these 4:22 minutes, the timing shown on the display goes from negative ("-0:00" to "0:01") and plays track 1 normally.

You will also notice that the total disc time shown on the CD player display when the CD is not playing is 75:38, whilst the total disc time REMAINING shown when track 1 is on PAUSE after just 00:01 is 71:15 minutes.

Anyone else who noticed this before? How can I save the hidden track to my computer?

Regards,

Urs

Wow, thanks for the info, I would never have found it out by myself, just listened to it and indentified the male voice as the voice of David Lynch.

This concept isn't new. I think (amongst others) the original X-files soundtrack also has such a hidden track.

Does it appear as a .cda file on the computer when you put in the disc? If not, you can record it through the "line" input (needs software though).

is good as the first album?

I would rank this one between the previous two releases. It is not as coherent and irresistible as the TWIN PEAKS TV soundtrack (partly because the playing time is 40-50% longer), but its musical substance is obviously closer related to that one than to the Twin Peaks movie score. And although it is more diverse than the TV soundtrack, it still gives a surprisingly pleasant play without any "bad surprises" (i.e. there are no sudden cacophonic outbursts).
