Just who is Ford A Thaxton and why does he seem to cause controversy wherever he goes?

Well, all you have to do is perhaps ask me?
My email is fordat1@aol.com.
What would you like to know exactly?
Ford A. Thaxton

Perhaps the inquirer would like to know about Ford's professional credentials and any significant contributions to the soundtrack industry.

Or he may want to know just what he typed…Why is it that where ever Ford goes there is controversy? :)

I've always thought the Ford Thaxton was an old car.
What's the possibility of a score release for the 1978 film "Hardcore"
(Jack Nitzsche)? It's one of his best! If I'm not mistaken, Ry Cooder
is the guitarist.

Asking Ford is like asking Hitler -- let's just let other people speak for themselves, shall we?

Then of course he was threated or was sued by the "Babylon 5" TV series creator, had Jerry Goldsmith say in an interview he wonders people like Ford have a life, Ford's WRECKING of threads at FSM and constant insults -- which he said he actually enjoys; truely only monsters enjoy the disapleassure of others for some sort of perverse emotional gain.

Hell, even I would "sodomize Sarah Michelle Gellar even if she was my step-sister" :)
Sounds like a loud-mouth creating controversy as an advertising tool, which is okay by me -- however, I'm not aware of his "contribution" to the soundtrack industry.

Thank you tharpdevenport for the interesting thread soundtrack fans wrote about this individual. I find the cohesive post by Craig Armstrong most informative and enlightening !!!
I also believe that Mr. Thaxton has something to do with the on-line soundtrack retailer BuySoundtrax. Any idea?
delerue, April 28, 2008; 5:11 PM

Hell, I didn't know the guy was such a card.
So what's wrong with an off color joke or insult from time to time? Just so long as the next guy gets equal time I say.

I have called BSX on a few occassions for the usual shipping problems a substantial number of us are familiar with and have faced when placing BSX orders.
I have spoken to both Mark and Ford on different occassions. I don't know if the Ford I spoke to is this Thaxton but he was nice enough to listen and help out, nothing like what some people make him out to be nor anything like the character he seems to come across in some of his responses in the various FSM threads.
In the FSM threads I think he is provoked and responds back in a sometimes blunt and bullish way. He should not be taken seriously, the same way many forums and many of their threads should not be taken seriously either.
As far as his business practices, personally I really don't care as long as he delivers what he is supposed to deliver.
Thaxton as far as I know, produces film score albums and he has produced a substantial number of score albums.
I think he is involved with Prometheus and BSX releases and perhaps more.
The last cd album or one of the last albums he produced or coproduced I believe is the Jerry Goldsmith 'Early Years' one which I'm personally grateful for.
Let's not trash this guy when we do not know what he has contributed in the soundtrack community and lets not make this SC thread another venomous FSM thread.
I think it's juvenille and unfair and besides, SC's forum is beyond and above all that.
Cheers!...

It's not "time to time", he does it ever chance he can get and when you get your say, you are "wrong" and a "fan boy" or some kind of insult.
"Ford, the such a nice blue sky, eh?"
"WRONG, fan boy. The sky is clearly green.. You are to dum to know this, IMHO. Next."
Producing CDs does not excuse behavior.
Buysoundtrax also had some controvery a few months back when they were selling bootlegs. They'd put them on the site for a shrot while, then they'd be gone when too many people were looking. Ford is always so quick to jump on people about stuff like that, but both him, and sadly Mr. Banning, have been completely silent about the matter, never responding. They just sit back and let the company name -- and Mr. Banning reputation -- be blemished, only occassionally posting when someone had an order problem.
tharpdevenport, April 28, 2008; 6:26 PM

If the so called bootlegs I think you are talking about are the cassettes... they are still there.
You buy a cassette that has never been released on cd and as a bonus, you get a CD-R.
It is clearly stated beforehand.

(tharpdevenport) But the thing is, have fun with it. I've dealt with a few people at the Bernard Herrmann forum who ended up chasing their tails around in circles after I finished with them.
In the USA the obnoxious fat man routine is as American as baseball and apple pie.
victoravalentine, April 28, 2008; 8:43 PM

Actually, more people anually attemp symphonys and the arts then baseball and football combined, and I barely know wnybody who eat apple pie. It's called stereotypes, and how Ford acts is not common, especially for a man his age.
tharpdevenport, April 29, 2008; 5:43 PM

I'm in Ohio right now. Football is one of the biggest things around this place and I can't stand the game. Maybe Ford Thaxton is just kidding around. I don't know, I've never been to the FSM board. Have been to the Herrmann and Rosza boards. Some of the people there can really piss you off unless you try to laugh about it.
Apple pies are a big thing in the USA. They come in all shapes and sizes.
victoravalentine, April 29, 2008; 6:00 PM

So do dildos, but you don't hear people talking about those when refering to America.
tharpdevenport, April 30, 2008; 4:09 PM

I always hear people talking about George Bush and Dick Cheney.
