The exorcist by Lalo schifrin

Just purchased a copy of The Exorcist from Warner home video with the rejected score by Schifrin. The database says, that there are existing two versions: one silver pressed and the other in 24 k Gold which came together with a limited DVD-Boxset. Does anyone know in which quantities this boxset has been distributed?

Thanks in advance

It was actually a Laser Disc Box set not DVD Box Set. Warner Brothers did this for THE EXORCIST, ENTER THE DRAGON and THE WILD BUNCH.

Thanks for your answer, but is it right, that two equal versions exist, one in silver and the other in gold?

Did you buy this one on ebay or is there some other places I might try to hunt, myself?

(sorry for not answering your question...)

I thought The Exorcist CD 24k came with the Warner Home Video Box set which is where I got mine from.

Dave, if you want one send me an email and we will see if we can't work something out, that is if you're after the 24k disc.

The answer to your question Peter is 500 but I'm confused...

How many versions of these 'Limited Collector's Box Set' releases are there???

Is there one with a VHS tape and another with a DVD?

I have not heard of laserdisc limited releases which included soundtracks of the titles mentioned except for the Sigature Series Limited Edition of "Boxing Helena" released back in the 90's and which included a laserdisc and a seperate gold pressed cd soundtrack.

As far as I know, the extended gold cd soundtrack of Schifrin's ''Enter The Dragon'' was included in a Limited Edition Collector's Boxed Set which also included a commemorative book, an eight-card set of lobby card reprints and a senitype blowup of a film frame plus a VHS not laserdisc or DVD.

This gold pressed cd soundtrack was the one also sold by itself exclusively by FSM.

The same thing for "The Exorcist" gold cd soundtrack which again was exclusively available through FSM together with "The Wild Bunch" cd.

These soundtracks are all sold out.

I don't remember if the ''The Wild Bunch" is a gold pressed cd or not and don't know if it came from a limited box set release but I would assume it did.

The goldpressed "Enter The Dragon" cd soundtrack can be purchased at a reasonable price from Movies Unlimited.

"The Exorcist" is available dirt cheap from Amazon.

How much are both version worth (silver + gold)?
Are they quite "easy" to find on ebay?

I do not believe that BOXING HELENA came from Warner Brothers but was a Pioneer (and I believe) Image release. I have that CD.

FSM did offer these for sale back in the day and believe this was due to Nick Redman being involved (at least with THE WILD BUNCH).

WILD BUNCH Deluxe box set came with a book and other goodies. I believe you are right about ENTER THE DRAGON and EXORCIST VHS coming with CDs as well. Linda Blair came into the Tower Records in S.F. and they were giving the CDs away - I know I got one.

If I remember correctly the DVD of ENTER THE DRAGON (that came out at that same time) had the score isolated instead of a CD.

The Laser Disc sets of JAWS and DANCES WITH WOLVES also came with CDs but those were the same CDs as the original releases. JAWS was Universal and DWW was MGM.

MYSTIC RIVER came with a CD release with the DVD which was the same as the original release.

Thanks Mark!

Peter, as far as my response to the 500 limited box sets of "The Exorcist"... these box sets were the ones that came with the DVD not VHS.

I don't know if the seperate cd soundtrack included was gold pressed or not and if it included Schifrin tracks.

Their was a soundtrack cd as well in the collector's box that had a VHS tape.

I would think that this is where the gold pressed cd came from with the Schifrin tracks.

I don't know how many of these boxes were pressed.

RESPONSE TO COMA WHO HAS A THING FOR REMOVING HIS POSTS... I WAS NOT RESPONDING TO SERI HYDE.

They were not available independently but FSM somehow did acquire them and sell them independently and they all sold out quite fast.

I had not noticed that there was a silver pressed cd with Schifrin's music for ''The Exorcist'' until now. I thought that it came only as a gold pressed cd.

Where did this silver pressed cd come from? Was it sold seperately or did it come within some type of a limited collector's box set?

I'm pretty sure the gold pressed came from a collector's box set that included a VHS tape the same way "Enter The Dragon" did.

I cannot remember but I'm curious... can anyone recall if "The Wild Bunch" cd avaialble through FSM was gold pressed?

Perhaps both VHS and DVD versions of the limited collector box sets for "The Exorcist" came with gold pressed cd's.

HE REMOVED IT AGAIN!...

Actually I have seen the 'regular' silver pressed cd being sold in record stores quite often.

Again, I had no idea that Schifrin's score was independently available through a silver pressed cd.

I really had a long search before I got my hands on this gold pressed one... with no shrieking regrets of course until I noticed Amazon selling it.

Can't seem to find it on Amazon... do you have a link?

Thanks for your answers. I purchased the score sealed at ebay for 30$ not knowing, that two different versions existed. I just didn´t listen into the score, but it doesn´t matter how the Schifrin cues are, i also like Penderecki.

Enjoy the music
