Dario Marianelli attending Soncinemad
5-May-2006 - The world famous, oscar-nominated composer Dario Marianelli will be attending the 1st International Madrid Film Music Festival 2006, offering a conference, attending and symphonic concerts of the festival and also participating in discs signing sessions.
Dario Marianelli was born in Pisa, Italy and contrary to most of his colleagues he has spent the majority of his professional career working in Britain and Ireland. During a large part of his early career, he composed for the concert hall, the theatre and contemporary dance choreographers such as Emma Diamond and Henri Oguike. His film music debut was made in 1994 when he scored Ailsa, for Irish director Paddy Breathnach and most notably when he received a great deal of critical acclaim for his score for The Warrior, which won the Alexander Korda Award for Best British Film at the 2002 BAFTA Awards. Marianelli still maintains a strong and worthwhile career in the classical music world, having recently completed a commission for the Royal Shakespeare Company and recorded his first original symphony, entitled "The Art of Road Crossing". 2005 Was his international breakout year, as far as film music is concerned, following his much-praised orchestral work on Terry Gilliam’s fantasy The Brothers Grimm and the critically-acclaimed costume drama Pride & Prejudice which earned him an Academy Award nomination for best original score, 2005. Looking back in his filmography, we find scores like I Went Down, Pandaemonium, The Warrior, In This World, The Brothers Grimm, Pride and Prejudice and the newly released dark score for V for Vendetta.
