Christophe Beck's The Sentinel
15-May-2006 - Varèse Sarabande has released the score from The Sentinel. The film is a thriller about a Secret Service Agent, who, while investigating the murder of a colleague, becomes a suspect after being blackmailed by someone who knows of his affair with the First Lady. Stripped of his duties and forced to run, he must both prove his innocence and save the President's life. Christophe Beck's high concept hybrid score reflects the film's recurring themes of technology and surveillance. Analog synthesizers achieve a raw, unapologetically electronic sound that provides the bedrock for much of the score. An 85-piece orchestra sits alongside the synthesizer, boasting an enlarged brass section and no woodwinds, alternating between a traditional, thematic idea for the main character and stark, intense action and suspense music.
