22-May-2006 - Both Teichiku Records and Hotwax/Solid records have upcoming releases that highlight the prime years of the early Japanese film powerhouse Nikkatsu Studios. Although the studio became predominately the home for sexy "pink eiga" movies by the end of 1972 their name is long associated with best looking, the hippest, and the most fashionable exploitation films in the Nippon marketplace. The Teichiku release called Nikkatsu Star Collection is a double disc and features many of their top stars in including a unreleased track by Meiko Kaji singing a song from the movie Kaidan Nobori Ryu (Blind Woman's Curse). Here is a link on the Amazon Japan website for this CD which is slated for release 5/24/06.
