Classical Georges Delerue finally released
27-Jul-2006 - The new DCM Classique label, affiliated with Disques Cinémusique in Canada, is devoted to concert music written by composers who first became famous through their contribution to the screen.

Over the past three years, they have released many film music scores by Georges Delerue, such as A Man in Love, Chouans! and a new version of A Walk With Love and Death. They are now proud to make available some of his classical production with these first two releases, scheduled for this fall.

In stores on September 5, 2006 :

GEORGES DELERUE
String Quartets no 1 and no 2, Four pieces for clarinet and piano, Prelude & dance for oboe and piano.
Claudel-Canimex Quartet : Elaine Marcil, violin / Marie-Josée Arpin, violin / Annie Parent, viola / Jeanne de Chantal Marcil, cello.
Simon Aldrich, clarinet / Lise Beauchamp, oboe / Sara Laimon, piano.

Nearly all the content of this disc is a world premiere recording. Before going to the studio, the Claudel-Canimex Quartet played Delerue's two string quartets in concert. With all the intensity and the precision that made their reputation, the four women render wonderfully the tension and the surges of passion of these demanding works.
Played by renowned soloists, the pieces for clarinet and oboe with piano accompaniment make a good introduction to Delerue's classical style.
This release will please to every film music fan already familiar with the composer's production, as well as to every fan of contemporary music.

GEORGES DELERUE
Works for Guitar and Flute
Isabelle Héroux, classical guitar / Patrick Healey, flute and piccolo

Most of the classical repertoire pieces gathered here appear for the first time on disc and allow to discover a more uncluttered aspect of the great Georges Delerue. The program is completed with duos which for the most part, have been transcribed from film music themes. Highly melodic, they are very representative of the composer's usual style.

Isabelle Héroux and Patrick Healey, members of the Duo Piazzola, have played together for many years while remaining active as soloists in many orchestras. Isabelle Héroux has recently gained favourable critics for her latest solo album, Regard, devoted to the contemporary guitar repertoire.
