DVD - Avenger
29-Oct-2006 - Warner Home Video has released Avenger.
You can run, but he will catch you. You can hide, but he will find you.

That's the motto of one of Warner Home video's latest releases, the suspense thriller Avenger starring Sam Elliott (We Were Soldiers, Rough Riders, Thank You For Smoking), Timothy Hutton (Kinsey, Secret Window, The General’s Daughter) and James Cromwell (The Longest Yard, Six Feet Under, The Sum Of All Fears).  Based on the novel by Frederick Forsyth (The Day of the Jackal) and executive-produced by Wolfgang Petersen (Troy, Poseidon), Avenger is an intricately woven story that follows Cal Dexter’s (Elliott) transformation from decorated war veteran to secret gun for hire.  As Dexter is busy chasing down thugs and war criminals, Frank McBride (Hutton), a CIA officer, is busy chasing him.  Dexter quickly becomes both hunter and hunted as he traverses the world in search of justice!

Cal Dexter’s (Elliott) duty during the Vietnam War was to locate and destroy the jungle hideouts of the enemy.  But today he's nothing more than a simple attorney in small town New Jersey.  Or so it seems to most.  Covertly, he has been hired by a tycoon to track down and deliver justice to the man who killed the tycoon’s grandson, an American aid worker in Bosnia.  Driven by the tragic deaths of his wife and daughter, Dexter accepts the mission that takes him around the world in search of vengeance.  Meanwhile, CIA agents Frank McBride (Hutton) and Paul Devereaux (Cromwell) must stop him before his mission interferes with a CIA sting and throws the world into chaos.  Avenger originally aired on TNT on April 9, 2006.

The music.
Avenger has an intriguing main title theme that throws you in the middle of the action. The music is from Stephen Graziano, who has composed a lot of music for TV movies and series like The Edge (1992), The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. (1993), The Outer Limits (1995), Dawson's Creek (1998) and the movie Highlander: Endgame (2000) to name a few. Graziano's music for Avenger plays an important role in this exciting thriller and is more then worth to be released on CD.

Release date: October 3, 2006
