15-Feb-2008 -

His music will be featured in concert
The reputed conductor, winner of an Emmy award, and composer on more than 100 films and shows has joined the list of distinguished guests in the forthcoming Fourth International Film Music Conference – City of Úbeda to be held from 10 to 13 July 2008.
Joel McNeely keeps a busy schedule between re-recordings, lecturing techniques of conducting and, most certainly, writing music for films, shows and the concert hall.
As a composer, Joel McNeely has worked with some of Hollywood’s most acclaimed producers and directors, including James Cameron and George Lucas. Some of his most celebrated recent scores involve a number of Disney animated films like "Cinderella 3", "The Fox and The Hound 2," "Lilo and Stitch 2", "Pooh's Heffalump Movie," "Mulan 2", and "Return to Neverland. " Other popular films are also "Ghosts from the Abyss" (from producer and director James Cameron), "Virus", "The Avengers", "Wild America" and "Terminal Velocity".
Positively, his score "Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire" is another major highlight in his career: a remarkable musical contribution to the multimedia project created by Lucasfilm to link the stories of "The Empire Strikes Back" and " The Return of the Jedi". Once again, Joel McNeely’s score was greeted enthusiastically by the legions of fans of the series.
As regards his TV scores, along with his Emmy-winning music for “The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles”, Joel McNeely has lend his talent to countless productions such as "The Court", James Cameron’s "Dark Angel", "Sally Hemmings: An American Scandal" or "Buffalo Soldiers".
As a conductor, Joel McNeely teamed up with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in a series of re-recordings of classic film scores, with a special emphasis in the works of Bernard Herrmann.
It is certainly a privilege for the Úbeda Film Conference to have such a talented composer attend this year’s event along with the likes of Bruce Broughton, John Scott, Fernando Velazquez and Patrick Doyle.
