Maurice Jaubert - Suite Française
13-Apr-2009 - DCM Classique has released Maurice Jaubert - Suite Française. The CD features a remastered version of a 1989 recording produced by the French label BNL. The Orchestre de Chambre de Nice conducted by Jacques-Francis Manzone performs four orchestral works by the great Maurice Jaubert. This classical music is derived from film scores or has been used subsequently in movies. Suite Française was first a film score for a documentary on the Seine River that Jaubert adapted for the concert hall. Director François Truffaut used it in 1975 for the soundtrack to the psychological drama The Story of Adèle H. Intermèdes was also used by François Truffaut for another movie of the seventies, the tragic comedy The Man Who Loved Women. Also on this CD Le Petit Chaperon Rouge (The Little Red Riding Hood), a burlesque suite for twelve instruments. Finally, Canadian Yoko Sawai plays short piano pieces by Maurice Jaubert, mostly from the movie Quatorze Juillet. Included is a 16-page booklet.
