Pino Donaggio's L'Uomo Che Cavalcava Nel Buio
8-Jan-2010 - Digitmovies continues their SP-series with the score for the 2009 TV miniseries L’Uomo Che Cavalcava Nel Buio (The man who rided in the darkness) directed by Salvatore Basile, and starring Terence Hill as Rocco. In Arezzo in 1998 the jockey Fabrizio, who was competing for a Grand Prix, fell from his horse Brando and died leaving Rocco, the owner of the stable who had let it to him for eleven years, in a depressed state of mind. When Rocco comes back to the stable in 2009, the horse Brando dies. The death of the horse has depressed Serena, Fabrizio's 16 year old daughter. One day an injured female horse called Rebecca turns up which has quite a wild look with everybody, but a friendship is born between the young girl and the female horse. Pino Donaggio has written an orchestral score, conducted by Maurizio Abeni based on the main theme “Man with a secret” performed by the beautiful voice of Claudia Arvati that is often reprised with romantic and nostalgic instrumental versions alternated to dark and dramatic themes that are the perfect background music to the characters and their feelings.
