New from Intrada...
25-Oct-2010 - Two new releases from Intrada Records. The world premiere of the impressive Bruce Broughton score to the TV film Glory & Honor, dramatizing heroic contribution of Peary's African American valet Matthew Henson as co-discoverer of North Pole. Broughton creates large-scale work for orchestra with expressive, noble main theme to underline heroism plus imposing, angular ideas to convey ice-covered terrain, freezing temperatures. Entire score carries shades of Broughton's signature Americana vernacular as well. Intrada presents entire score from digital session masters, includes tiny bumpers, snippets in "the extras" section for completists. Powerful music! Bruce Broughton conducts. This Intrada Signature Edition is limited to 1200 copies!
Another world premiere release is the magnificent, moving original score by Laurence Rosenthal to the classic Daniel Petrie filming of Lorraine Hansberry play, A Raisin In The Sun,. Rosenthal creates music in a rich Americana mode, then balances with dramatic orchestral outbursts for conflicts, flavorful jazz for locale. The moving main theme remains at heart throughout. Intrada presents the complete score from mint condition 1/4" mono masters courtesy of Sony Pictures. Also appearing are all surviving tracks from Rosenthal's brief but powerful score for Ralph Nelson's Requiem For A Heavyweight (nearly all of it). The dramatic presentation is in superb mono sound from similar mint condition 1/4" master elements. Two masterful films with magnificent music to match! Laurence Rosenthal conducts. This Intrada Special Collection is limited to 1500 copies!
