Bruno Coulais will preside over the 7º Úbeda International Film Music Festival
10-Jan-2011 -

French renowned composer will
count on Christopher Lennertz’s
support as honorary music director

The organisation of the International Film Music
Festival ‘City of Úbeda’ has already disclosed
the honorary president of its 7th edition: the
organising committee has decided that french
composer Bruno Coulais will be in charge
of this honorary position.

The decision taken by the BSOSpirit Association
– organiser of this outstanding meeting that
takes place annually in Úbeda – is based on
many reasons, among them the prestige
earned through the years by Bruno Coulais,
one of the most distinguished European film
music composers, writer of scores like
‘Les Choristes’ or ‘Microcosmos’, as well as
the pro-European nature of the 2011 edition
of the festival that was already disclosed
after the successful VI edition.

Bruno Coulais has pleasantly accepted the
appointment, taking over the responsibility
from Oscar winner Michael Giacchino, being
specially grateful as the composer of ‘Le
Peuple Migrateur’ or ‘Vidoq’ was one of the
guests of the festival on its second edition,
so he already knows the well-known ‘spirit
of Úbeda’ that surrounds the festival since
its beginnings. That’s why he has not
hesitated to preside over the VII edition
in 2011.

Also remarkable, as was already disclosed
last November by the organisation, is that
composer Christopher Lennertz is the
honorary music director for the July 2011
edition of the Festival. After the great
experience that was for the festival to count
on him in 2010, Chris Lennertz will come
back to Úbeda to collaborate with the
organisation working on the concerts
program, especially in the tribute the
festival will pay to a composer yet to be
disclosed, although the organisation is
more than sure that will be an
unforgettable experience to all the
attendants to the VII Festival.
