Ron Goodwin's Those Magnificent Men...
22-Jul-2012 - Twilight Time has released a Blu-ray DVD of Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines, Or How I Flew From London To Paris In 25 Hours 11 Minutes (1965), an epic comedy, set in the early days of aviation, about a cross-Channel, London-to-Paris air race sponsored by press magnate Lord Rawnsley. Among the competitors for the £10,000 purse are an English aristo, spurred on by his flight-mad fiancée; an American cowpoke; a pair of absurdly militaristic Germans; a French lover extraordinaire; an operatic Italian; and a moustache-twirling British villain of comically evil proportions. Lovingly directed by aviation buff Ken Annakin, with a superbly catchy score, available here as an isolated score track,  from Ron Goodwin. The DVD is region-free.
