THE STATE OF FILM MUSIC TODAY
After an introduction by Marilyn Bergman, this two-part session will be looking at both artistic and professional aspects related to film music today. The sessions will investigate where film music stands today, after 75 years of mechanical sound. How does the future look for film music and composers in terms of opportunities, challenges and dangers (piracy, MP3, DVD, etc.)? Will the role of the film composer change in the 25 years? How to increase public awareness for film scores and their composers? Etc.

Lunch concert by New Art Trio performing music from film composers like Nino Rota, Ennio Morricone, Astor Piazolla, Adrian Williams and Frédéric Devreese.

SYMPHONIC VS. ELECTRONIC – DIFFERENT WAYS OF APPROACHING FILM SCORING
After a brief introduction, composers will talk about their working methods. The first session will discuss scoring methods for the more traditional symphonic film music, while the second will look at embracing new, electronic technologies. A Q&A will conclude the afternoon sessions.
