New from Film Score Monthly
28-Jul-2002 - Film Score Monthly's new limited edition CDs feature a high point of '60s television scoring and a biblical epic by a Golden Age great.
The premiere CD of original TV soundtracks from I Spy (the LPs were re-recordings) features five episode scores. The jazzy, energetic and totally hip music by Earle Hagen fused jazz with dramatic underscore and world music styles. Together with Hugo Friedhofer, Hagen provided an original score for each one of I Spy's 82 episodes.
In the Golden Age Classics series, The Prodigal (1955) is a gargantuan M-G-M epic starring Lana Turner and Edmund Purdom. The music by Bronislau Kaper (1902-1983) is a mammoth symphonic score including male chorus for the Hebrew protagonist and alluring female chorus for the pagan temptress. FSM's CD is the premiere release of the complete score in chronological order and stereo sound, including deleted and alternate cues.
