The Prisoner 35th Anniversary
25-Aug-2002 - 2002, a memorable year for The Prisoner, being 35 years since its first screening in 1967. Silva Screen Records will release this September 3 CD albums of music from the series to provide an opportunity to hear some of the memorable incidental and main tracks which gave episodes so much atmosphere. Often, only a few seconds worth of a track would be used, although in a way which made a scene unforgettable. Humorous passages, dramatic sequences and fast action background tunes were the musical hallmarks of The Prisoner. Perhaps no other TV series utilised so much music and to such good effect. There was pop music in the form of The Beatles, The Four Lads and Carmen Miranda. There was classical music ranging from Bizet and Vivaldi to Strauss. There were nursery rhymes, school ditties and popular songs.
