Franz Waxman's Rebecca from Varese
1-Sep-2002 - Varese Sarabande has released Franz Waxman's score for Rebecca, one of Alfred Hitchcock’s greatest masterpieces! The score, the composer’s favorite of his film scores throughout his life, was nominated for an Academy Award. For this new 20-bit digital recording by Joel McNeely with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the original scores and parts from the Selznick archives were used. The final result, produced in cooperation with the composer’s family, sheds new light on the richly detailed orchestration and brings back to glorious life a genuine 20th Century musical masterpiece.
