New in the Varèse CD Club
18-Nov-2002 - Varèse Sarabande celebrates the tenth anniversary of Home Alone 2: Lost In New York with a very special 2 CD “Deluxe Edition” release. It features cues never before available. Very importantly, this release corrects a very odd anomaly that afflicted the original CD. The original soundtrack release was not mastered from the first-generation session masters!
The Varèse Sarabande CD Club looks back to the most requested, previously unreleased score from Howard Shore’s past, Big. For the first time ever comes this special CD release of a much-loved contemporary classic. Also included is the famous Tom Hanks/Robert Loggia duet performance of Heart and Soul, as heard in the film during the classic FAO Schwartz scene.
Studs Lonigan (1960) was Jerry Goldsmith’s fourth film score. It is a stunning work which offers an early glimpse of many musical ideas which would manifest themselves into many of Goldsmith’s greatest and most famous scores. Goldsmith, who was 30 at the time, also composed virtuoso piano solos that are performed here by a then-27-year-old John Williams!
