Graig Armstrong's The Quiet American

It's a murder mystery centered on a love triangle set against the French Indochina War in Vietnam, circa 1952. It’s the true story of a veteran English journalist (Caine), a young American (Fraser), and the beautiful Vietnamese woman caught between them. The mesmerizing, haunting and exotic score by Craig Armstrong features powerful string elegies (which bring to mind the harrowing feel of Platoon) and mystical Vietnamese vocals.
