The April releases of the Varèse CD Club
10-Apr-2003 - To find and restore the score for Hawaii (1966) has been a tremendous job. (Read all about this struggle here). It resulted in a 2CD DeLuxe Edition with not only Elmer Bernstein's score, but also with the stereo version of the original soundtrack LP.
Another classic score is The Return Of A Man Called Horse (1976). Though the original LP has long been a collector favorite, the preparation of this Deluxe Edition gave Laurence Rosenthal the opportunity to revisit his score and select cues originally omitted from the LP for no reason other than time.
Good news for Jerry Goldsmith fans..! The long-awaited release of his score for Magic (1978) is finally available. Brilliantly scored for strings and harmonica, this premiere soundtrack release fills a long lamented vacancy in many people’s soundtrack collection.
Featuring one of Franz Waxman's finest love themes, Beloved Infidel (1959) is certainly among the most egregious omissions from the Waxman discography. This restoration was produced from original materials from the Twentieth Century Fox archives.
