The November releases of the Varèse CD Club
27-Nov-2003 - To celebrate the holidays and also to conclude Varèse Sarabande’s own 25th anniversary year in high style comes the spectacular 50th anniversary deluxe edition of The Robe, one of film music’s greatest masterpieces. Newly remixed and mastered from the original film elements, Alfred Newman's score sounds better and contains more music than ever before.
November 2003 marks the 75th birthday of one of film music’s most revered maestros, Ennio Morricone. 1980’s The Island, which starred Michael Caine, was among the composer’s first American films and would soon be followed by such genuine masterpieces as Once Upon A Time In America and Marco Polo. It features one of the maestro’s classic, beautifully haunting themes and an impressively diverse array of styles over its thirty-five minutes.
James Horner’s score for the Arnold Schwarzenegger action film Commando, (1985) has long been one of the most requested of all of the composer’s unreleased scores. Here the wait ends!
