Oscar nominations for Best Picture&Best Score announced!
13-Feb-2001 - Members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences were in a fightin' mood: combat films "Gladiator" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" paced the race for the 73rd annual Oscars, with 12 and 10 noms, respectively.
Here is the full list:
Gladiator - 12 noms ■ Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - 10 noms ■ Chocolat - 5 noms ■ Erin Brokovich - 5 noms ■ Traffic - 5 noms.

Ennio Morricone fans should rejoice this morning in utter disbelief. For all those of you who felt he was robbed of an Oscar nomination last year after winning the Golden Globe for "The Legend of 1900," Morricone is the film music story of the day, earning a totally unexpected nomination for another Giuseppe Tornatore film.
The rest of the nominees are pretty much as expected.
And nominated for 'Best Score' are:
Chocolat - Rachel Portman ■ Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - Tan Dun ■ Gladiator - Hans Zimmer ■ Malena - Ennio Morricone ■ The Patriot - John Williams.
