LOS ANGELES -- Film Music Media Group announced today that veteran soundtrack journalist Mikael Carlsson has joined Film Music Radio as Soundtrack News Editor. Carlsson will also produce and host "The Red Carpet," a new weekly show on Film Music Radio that spotlights music from new film and television soundtracks.

In addition, Film Music Radio announced the launch of "Soundtrack News," a twice-weekly email newsletter edited by Carlsson, which will feature the latest in film and television soundtrack news. Soundtrack News will be published each Monday and Thursday beginning February 6. Readers can sign up for the free newsletter on the Film Music Radio site at Film Music Radio.

Carlsson will now provide soundtrack news coverage exclusively to Film Music Radio, including soundtrack release information, news about composers being signed to film and television projects, and other industry news. Since 1990, Carlsson has worked as a journalist specializing in film music, writing extensively for UK magazine Music from the Movies for more than a decade. As a freelance writer, he also writes about Swedish film in Screen International and about classical music in Swedish magazine Opus. In addition, Carlsson is also a composer and wrote the original theme for "The Red Carpet." He works as a film music consultant and soundtrack producer and recently launched his own company, MovieScore Media.
