31-Mar-2006 - Colosseum Records in Germany has released the score of Das Leben Der Anderen. Here is the story: Eastern Germany, November 1984, five years before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Oberstleutnant Grubitz has ordered the conservative Stasi-Hauptmann Wiesler to spy on the succesfull actor Georg Dreyman and his partner Christa-Maria Sieland. When Hauptman Wiesler gets to know the couple's strange world and is confronted with love, literature and their free minds, he suddenly recognizes the poor existence he leads. The more he sympathizes with this new world, the more he realizes that the Stasi machine is cruel and only has eyes for it's own existence. The music is by Gabriel Yared and Stéphane Moucha.
